I read a good article called 'The Sabbath Controversy in the Gospels, by Bob Deffinbaugh , Th.M at bible.org. He discusses how Jesus dealt with the Sabbath question. My opinion of the Sabbath (only my opinion) is that we need to balance work and rest. There are some people who have too much free time and spend it unwisely and there are others that work too much. We need a balance. In my life I have had too much free time (as a teenager), too much work (grad school and full-time employment), and a good balance. Right now, I can slip into the too much free time zone so I keep a structured schedule of my time: baby, cleaning, prayer, socializing, learning, exercising, cooking, and leisure.

I need a structured schedule. I wonder also if God has seasons of sabbath? Can we work really, really hard for a season and be rewarded with a smaller season of rest? I would like a small season of rest in about a week!
