parents are held in high esteem (crown)

1. Biblical review question:
What character from the Bible broke this Commandment and what consequences did s/he face for this rebellion?

2. Self-reflective question:
How have you been personally affected by this Commandment?

When I was a teenager, I was disobedient to my mom frequently. Now, I am constantly telling my mother how much I love her and how much she means to me. I also thank her for putting up with me as a teenager.

I wish I would have memorized this proverb when I was a teen. I am totally going to memorize now so I can use it when I have teens.

Pro 17:25
A foolish child is a grief to his father, and bitterness to the mother who bore him.

This one is a hard one, especially for people who have parents that have hurt them. (Thank God that is not the case for me!) But, how does one handle that? respecting his/her parents even though they might be the cause of so much grief in his/her life? I think that we just need to constantly forgive and forget and try to see our parents through Christ's eyes. There is good in all of us; it just takes more effort to see it.

I like that verse, Crissy. I think I'll have my family memorize it.
